Something
about IVAN.

Born in Madrid in 1983, he began his musical studies (piano and clarinet) at the Music Conservatory of Cuenca, in central Spain. In 1998, he moved to Luxembourg, his father’s home country, where he continued his studies at the Music Conservatory of Luxembourg. It was there, while studying piano, organ, chamber music, music history, and other disciplines, that he developed a strong interest in music theory and composition.

His studies in Luxembourg led to his admission to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where he pursued advanced training in harmony, counterpoint, fugue, 20th-century music writing, orchestration, analysis, and conducting. He graduated in 2011 with a Master’s degree in Music Writing.
The supportive musical environment in Luxembourg has allowed him to develop a career as a freelance composer and conductor since 2003.

As a conductor, he has worked with ensembles including the Luxembourg Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg, the Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein, the Solistes Européens Luxembourg, and the Estro Armonico Orchestra (Luxembourg).

In 2020, he received a Composer Award from the International Classical Music Awards, an association of leading European music journalists.
